In a public health climate where 68% of adults in the U.S. are overweight and millions have diabetes, the need for a lifestyle change is greater than ever. These classes offer a chance to discover which foods are optimal for weight management and learn about various health topics including blood pressure and digestion. Weekly topics include: Power of Your Plate, Let’s Go, Getting in Gear, Breaking the Food Seduction, Keys for Natural Appetite Control, Digestive Health, and High Blood Pressure. Class format: welcome and overview, video lesson, class discussion, cooking demonstration, and Q&A. The Food for Life program is a collaborative effort of physicians, researchers, and nutritionists who have joined together to educate the public about the benefits of a healthful diet for improved health and disease prevention. Based in Washington, D.C., Food for Life is a program of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. This is a 5-class series.
