Coronavirus: Canceling or Postponing Your Events
VegFund is proud to support our many passionate and knowledgeable grantees who reach out to the public with inclusive, community-based methods of sharing the benefits of going vegan. Hosting public gatherings and offering delicious vegan food are cornerstones of the vegan movement. However, as concern about the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) increases, so do concerns about holding large public gatherings and events.
Event cancellation guidelines
During this unprecedented public health threat, please do not feel any obligation or pressure to host an event that has been approved for a VegFund grant. Your safety and that of your friends, family, and community are our priority. Be assured that VegFund will honor its commitments should you cancel your event at this time and decide to reschedule for a later date when the timing is appropriate and once the health risks have subsided.
VegFund strongly recommends that you follow the guidance of the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention when determining whether to cancel or host your event as planned.
If you decide to cancel your event, alert all parties involved, including co-organizers, invitees, vendors, and VegFund. You can notify us by emailing grants@vegfund.org. After you’ve announced the event cancellation, find out what expenses are refundable or can be covered by your insurance. If you have taken the necessary steps and find that you will still incur nonrefundable expenses that would have been covered by your grant, let us know in your project report. Please also advise us if you plan to hold your event at a later time, or if VegFund should cancel your grant completely.
Above all, please take good care!
