VegFund Re-Opens Grant Applications on a New System
As you may already know, we paused our application cycle during our transition to VegFund’s new grant management system, Zengine. As of September 28, 2020, Zengine is up and running and ready to accept your applications.
What You Need to Know
How do I apply for a grant now?
If you had an active account in our previous system (FluidReview), you will receive an email from no-reply@email.zenginehq.com inviting you to reset your password and confirm your Applicant Profile information in our new system, Zengine. Once you take those steps, you will be able to review past grant information, start a new application, submit a project report, or resume an existing application. (Please note: data import from our old system is still in progress, and in some cases not all application or report information will be available until later this week. Thanks for your patience.)
When you apply for a VegFund grant, you now have three grant program areas to choose from, but you are free to navigate among the categories once you are signed in to Zengine. If you are a new applicant, you will be prompted to create your Applicant Profile first.

New grant program names
During the pause in applications, we redefined our grant programs to best suit the work that vegan activists and plant-based advocates do. So, things may look a little different when you visit our website. There are now three main grant programs.
Community Event Grants
These grants are for one-time events or activities that last one or two days and are designed to reach the non-vegan public about vegan and plant-based living. This category is very similar to our former Community Outreach grant programs.
VegFund accepts Community Event grant applications on a rolling basis, and review typically takes four weeks. There is no limit to the amount that may be requested, but requests for more than $3,000 may require additional time for review. Many community events fall under one of the following categories:
- Food Sampling
- Paid-Per-View (PPV)
- Film Screenings
- Learning Events (such as conferences, webinars, or trainings)
- Festivals & Fairs (vegfests and other vegan fairs)
For more information and details, visit the Community Event Grants page.
Special Project Grants
This category covers projects that last longer than a single day or one-time event. These projects have a longer implementation timeline and typically target a broad audience. Examples of Special Projects include mentored campaigns and vegan challenges, humane education and other school outreach, and long-term advocacy projects. Special Project grants will be reviewed on a quarterly basis, with the first application due date being October 15, 2020. For more information and details on the new grant cycles, visit the Special Project Grants page.
Online Campaign Grants
VegFund supports individuals and organizations that wish to carry out vegan advocacy using an online platform, such as social media, to run an online challenge or other digital marketing campaign. We strongly prioritize those campaigns with a specific and measurable call-to-action, as well as explicit and trackable conversions as the primary campaign goal. Like Special Project Grants, the Online Campaign will move to a quarterly cycle, with the next application due date being November 6, 2020. For more information and details on the new grant cycles, visit our Online Campaign Grants page.
