FREEEvent Navigation
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The field of “animal studies” is on the rise in academia, and it’s not just biologists and zoologists who are taking animals seriously in universities. A number of academic disciplines, including anthropology, communication studies, law, and philosophy, offer exciting opportunities to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of animals. Come learn from experts in these disciplines about how you can — and why you should — take animals seriously at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Free food will be provided.
Panel speakers will include: C.E. Abbate (Assistant Professor of Philosophy), Bryan Blankfield (Assistant Professor in Residence, Honors College), Danielle Holt (Personal Injury Attorney for De Castroverde Law Group), Lada Mead (Juris Doctor Candidate and President of the UNLV Animal Legal Defense Society), and Ivan Sandoval-Cervantes (Assistant Professor of Anthropology).
