Food justice activists from across the state will meet with their legislators in support of two pieces of legislation that would promote plant-based foods in public institutions. The event will include a plant-based luncheon for activists and elected officials.
One bill establishes a target for reducing food-related emissions from the state’s food purchases by 25% by 2030, which will be achieved by shifting to climate-friendly, plant-forward menus and reducing food waste. The second bill would require plant-based options in correctional facilities and healthcare facilities and include training in plant-based medicine for healthcare workers in prisons.
