We will hand out leaflets that provide information on a confidential whistleblower helpline (dxe.io/whistle) so that the slaughterhouse workers can anonymously report abuse, unsafe conditions, and animal cruelty. We understand that a very real fact that is hidden by the animal agriculture industry is that workers are an extremely oppressed group of people. They are marginalized and suffer from numerous human rights issues, as well as an increased prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Farmer John and Smithfield were fined by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) several times in the past year, yet workers’ conditions have not changed. We are calling on the public to see the abuse of both the workers and the animals and participate in a FOOD SYSTEM CHANGE. Switch to plant-based today. Join us in supporting the workers.
