This January, the Herbivore Society For Peace & Justice will host speaker Jennifer Greene of Beyond Carnism.

The organization, based in both the U.S. and Berlin, was founded by renowned Harvard social psychologist, Dr. Melanie Joy. Beyond Carnism strives to education the public on the psycho-social concept of carnism (the antonym of veganism). Carnism is the belief system based on conditioning and habitual behavior centered around the practice of consuming particular animals.

Jennifer, the U.S. representative of the organization, will be delivering a talk on this relatively new concept and its power to liberate people by transforming everyday decisions into impactful ones that bridge the disconnect between humans and nonhumans by confronting the cognitive dissonance in our food.
