Founded in 2018, the International Vegan Film Festival is a unique, worldwide platform dedicated to supporting the crucial role of vegan-themed films, photography, and cookbooks. Our objective is to amplify the reach and scope of these powerful and life-changing works of art to benefit animals, our planet, and humanity.
How We Do It!
The main festival occurs each October in Ottawa, followed by a week-long online virtual festival. A “Best of World Tour” commences after the Festival in selected cities, offering screenings organized by local hosts. Our carefully selected judges, guided by the highest standards, select winners
in five categories: Health and Nutrition, Environmental Protection, Animal Advocacy, Lifestyle, and Public Service Announcement.
The photo essay contest showcases the best in vegan-themed photo essays. A photo essay is a collection of 3 to 5 images that tell a story and propel a narrative over multiple images. Contest categories include Lifestyle, Health and Nutrition, Animal Welfare, Environmental Protection, and a Youth category for photographers under 18.
THE VEGAN COOKBOOK CONTEST
Showcases the finest cookbooks from vegan chefs and influencers. Cookbooks are often an integral part of becoming — and remaining — vegan. The IVFF cookbook judges review the submissions by cooking three meals from each book and rating them. The contest creates a unique platform to highlight and reward the best new vegan cookbooks. (New in 2021.)
Ticket fees vary, starting at $10 for individual student tickets, to more for full passes to the online virtual film festival.
